From recycled paper to recyclable paper, one package can hide another.
1 – WHAT IS A CIRCULAR ECONOMY?
The circular economy consists of producing goods and services in a sustainable way by limiting the consumption and wastage of resources, while at the same time reducing the production of waste. It is nothing more and nothing less than moving from a throwaway society to an economic model where recycling and reuse are the order of the day.The paper industry has long benefited from public policies that have encouraged paper recycling and contributed to the organisation of this sector, whether for industrial or household waste. According to the COPACEL 2019 annual report, the recycling rate for packaging paper and cardboard is 91.6% in France, 85.8% in Europe and 68.2% in the United States.Recycling rate = recovery of used paper / consumption of paper and cardboardPaperis virtually infinitely recyclable, and the fibre comes from a renewable resource: wood.
2 – WHAT ARE THE THREE PILLARS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT?
To support sustainable growth, our company has chosen a business model that takes a long-term view, integrating ecological and social constraints: for example, committing to sustainable forest management by giving priority to the purchase of FSC-certified paper, or replacing the use of solvents in manufacturing processes with exclusively water-based coatings.Purchasing energy-efficient equipment to improve energy efficiency by reducing consumption on the premises: lighting and heating systems, treating all industrial water and implementing action plans to increase the proportion of recycled water in processes.
3- HOW DOES CGP COATING INNOVATION FIT INTO THIS APPROACH?
Environmental management is an integral part of CGP COATING INNOVATION’s R&D teams. For more than 15 years, the teams have been constantly working to improve energy efficiency and eco-design. Engineers, laboratory technicians and production teams work on the creation of 100% recyclable product concepts. The products developed must use as few raw material resources as possible to reduce their impact on the environment. Finally, our technical test centre validates and proves the effectiveness of our solutions.85% of our paper products are made from recycled materials. This includes coated and uncoated interleafs, uncoated paper and board and special coatings. As far as our customers are concerned, 95% of our products can be recycled through conventional paper recycling channels, with only a tiny proportion of products whose volume is too small to be recycled being recycled into energy. In addition to our eco-design approach, which is the Group’s DNA, we are constantly working to reduce waste, and our teams are working to limit YOUR environmental impact and encourage the recycling of paper packaging.DISCOVER OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
“The best waste is the waste we don’t produce “For example, by lightening the compositions, reducing the volumes of materials needed and reducing plastic packaging thanks to its paper packaging.
