Corrugated board sheets vs Roll of anti-slip paper dividers

What is the best option for an automatic cutting machine?

Did you know that by opting to replace and cut non-slip paper inserts on your production lines, you multiply your chances of reducing both direct and indirect costs?

Let’s take a closer look at how introducing one format at a time at the palletising line gripper has a positive impact on reducing your costs.

The use of anti-slip paper inserts on rolls to be automatically cut on EXCALIBUR® machines enables you to:

1. Receive fewer raw materials

The corrugated sheets are delivered to fit the dimensions of your pallets. Each pallet of corrugated board sheets you receive contains between 300 and 500 units, depending on the thickness of the sheet. The relatively small number of corrugated sheets per pallet means that replenishment is frequently required.

The introduction of the EXCALIBUR® sheet cutter solves this problem. Thanks to this machine, you can place fewer orders because it produces customised formats from a single reel. What’s more, it ensures that the divider gripper operates smoothly.

2. Save storage space

Unlike the use of corrugated cardboard, the use of anti-slip paper dividers in rolls, cut automatically with the EXCALIBUR® machine, has the advantage of requiring less frequent replenishment.

This approach avoids taking up excessive storage space: a single reel of paper contains as many dividers as 10 pallets of corrugated sheets. A single reel reference is used for supply, enabling the production of up to 15 lengths of various formats. So, thanks to the anti-slip paper rolls, you can reduce both your transport costs and your storage space requirements.

3. Fewer line stops to reload the magazine

The consumption of a reel with a diameter of 800 to 1000 mm lasts longer than the consumption of a pallet of corrugated board formats, reducing production stoppages for sheet replenishment. Unlike the traditional method, there are fewer stops to refill the sheet tank.

In the latter, the operator has to stop the production line when replacing the pre-cut corrugated board pallet. This requires the operator to enter the palletiser cell, bringing the packaging line to a complete halt. This safety procedure has an impact on productivity. Our palletising system minimises or even eliminates reel changeover times.

Our machine offers the possibility of loading the reel outside the safety cell, thus standardising references, reducing production time and increasing flexibility and productivity.

4. The format is always in the same position – the robot loses less time picking up the sheet.

EXCALIBUR® cuts formats to the required length from a single reel. These formats are then automatically conveyed via a conveyor system to a designated position. The palletiser or palletising robot gripper then picks up the format and inserts it between the rows of products to be palletised. If required, the machine unwinds the reel again and cuts the next format.

5. No more gripping errors

PRISE EXCALIBUR

When using traditional pallet inserts on an automatic palletiser, sheets often accidentally fall into the palletising cell, potentially blocking sensors and stopping the entire production line for safety reasons.

Our EXCALIBUR® machine solves this problem by feeding the robot with a single sheet at a time, eliminating accidental drops of interleaved sheets. It also improves gripping quality, eliminates gripping problems and ensures greater pallet stability thanks to its unique anti-slip coating. So your palletising process becomes even more efficient.

6. Reduce the weight of paper used

By using anti-slip paper formats on rolls, you can considerably reduce the number of orders you place with your suppliers, thanks to the lower paper weight. This saving can represent between 25% and 50% of your consumables bill.

Our anti-slip paper combined with the EXCALIBUR® machine gives you greater flexibility:

  • By adjusting the quality of the paper liner by reducing the grammage and adding anti-slip properties to guarantee optimum pallet stability.

  • By producing precisely the length required.
